Drake: Take Care

I know this is going to sound strange but I saw Black (Blacc) Chyna trending and immediately thought about this album. I think it’s the Miss Me lyrics when Drake said “call up King of Diamonds and tell Chyna it’ll be worth the flight.” Yeah, that sounds right!

Anywho, I’m very shocked at myself that I haven’t reviewed any of Drake’s music because he’s one of my favorite artists. I remember first hearing him on a song called I Can Take Your Girl with Lil’ Wayne and Kid Kid. I remember playing him in the car one day and my cousin was like, “you know that’s Jimmy from Degrassi right?” I was in total shock! Just picturing him made me laugh at first because it didn’t even sound like him from the show.

Sorry, that was all random information but you all get my point about how much I like him right? Yeah, you get it. Okay, moving on…

Take Care is Drake’s second studio album and first to win him a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2013. To date, it is still the rapper’s best album he’s ever put out. The album is very well thought out and shows so many emotions in the tracks like Marvin’s Room, Shot for Me, and Hate Sleeping Alone but still displays a certain level of lyrical skill like in the songs Underground Kings, Miss Me, The Motto, and Headlines. It’s like, you can hear Drake severing himself from his So Far Gone/Thank Me Later days and coming into his Nothing Was the Same era. This album is one of the reasons why Drake’s music still reigns supreme everytime he touches a mic.

Rating: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
