John Wick (2014)

#JohnWick

You know, I’m only doing this one at this time because #STARZ just announced the release of a John Wick television series with Keanu Reeves as the producer. I know, exciting, right?! Okay, let’s get right to it:

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is a retired hitman, known as the “Boogeyman”, who has just lost his wife to illness. In his mourning, John receives a package from his dead wife, obviously planned ahead, which contains a puppy inside.

He takes the puppy on a joyride and runs into, who he finds out later, is his old boss’ son. He wants to buy the car that Wick is driving and when Wick refuses, he invades Wick’s home. After killing his new puppy and stealing his favorite car, Wick comes out of retirement to take down the man who had taken everything he cared about!

Now, I know a lot of people are thinking what I was thinking when my best friend told me to watch this movie; “a whole killing spree for a puppy and car?” Yup, that was my thought until I watched it! See, it’s way deeper than just a puppy and car; Wick was stripped of the one thing that would assure he wouldn’t have to mourn alone! I’m getting choked up thinking about the pain a person may experience after losing the person you love and having no one to ease the pain.

John Wick burst into action and Mr. Headshot was born. The director chooses not to use the chopped and screwed action but instead gives long shots of John Wick’s skills as he takes down an entire organization in a matter of days. The movie is almost perfect as you can’t help but root for him every step of the way!

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
